What’s New in UFT One 2022: 4 Release Highlights

Micro Focus has released UFT One 2022. This is the latest version of their class-leading test automation tool. We’ve selected our top 4 release highlights.

What is UFT One?

If you’re looking for a test automation tool, you need to look no further than UFT One.

UFT One supports more applications and technologies than any other tool.

It waspreviously called UFT Enterprise and is the merging and evolution of the QuickTest Professional (QTP) and WinRunner automation tools.

UFT One also includes UFT Developer, which was previously known as UFT Pro and LeanFT.

UFT One is Consistently Being Enhanced

These days, UFT One includes sophisticated artificial intelligence (AI). It also integrates seamlessly with open-source tools. For example, you can execute Selenium scripts in UFT One.

UFT One is regularly updated with additional features and enhancements. UFT One 2022 is currently the latest version and was released on 3 October 2022.

UFT One 2022 – 4 Release Highlights

UFT One 2022 includes several new features. We’ve highlighted the top 3 release highlights for you below:

1. AI Based Testing Enhancements

UFT One 2022 includes many updates to its AI testing capabilities. We’ve listed a few of these below:

You Can Now Use AI to Test SAP GUI

Do you run SAP and want to accelerate the creation and maintenance of automated tests?

You can now test SAP GUI with UFT One’s AI based testing. UFT One can identify typical controls in the SAP Classic and Signature themes.

To prepare your SAP GUI applications for testing, check out Enable support for SAP GUI for Windows

Newly supported AI classes

UFT One AI can now identify more control types than ever

  • On mobile apps: refreshchartpeople, and clock
  • On web and SAP GUI applications: contact card, copy, display, document, enter, exit, find, folder, forward, pin, save, schema, window

For a full list of supported control types, see AI-based testing: Supported control types.

2. Colour-Based Text Recognition

UFT One now has enhanced object recognition accuracy thanks to colour-based text recognition.

This functionality includes the ability to identify:

  1. The colour of text within text objects
  2. The colour of text within images

For more information, check out the TextUtil Object and TextObject description properties pages in the UFT One Object Model Reference for GUI Testing.

3. Mobile Testing Updates

You can enhance your mobile testing capability by utilising devices from more sources than ever before.

  1. UFT One now allows you to connect devices from WeTest and Genymotion.
  2. You can now specify the Fleet Typeproperty when your device is hosted by Micro Focus.
    • Note: The Fleet Type describes the cloud provider type and can be public, private, or any.
  3. For public fleets, you can also specify the device’s geographic location.

For more information, check out Define Mobile Record and Run Settings.

4. CI-CD plugin enhancements

UFT One 2022 provides updates when working with CI-CD servers.

Azure DevOps

Version 4.0.0 of the UFT One Azure DevOps extension is now available. This version provides the following enhancements:

  1. You can directly define UFT Mobile connection settings and Mobile Record and Run settings in the pipelines without defining them separately in UFT One.
  2. Use a UFT Mobile Get Resources task to retrieve application and device information from UFT Mobile.
  3. Use a UFT One Parallel Test Run task to run GUI Web and GUI Mobile tests in parallel.

What can testers learn from SpaceX

What Can Testers Learn From SpaceX?

As a test professional, I’ve seen countless projects where defects are treated as disasters rather than learning opportunities. But what if we flipped that mindset? What if software development projects embraced failure as SpaceX does—not as an end, but as the beginning of progress?

video to defect

How to Generate Defect Reports from Videos!

Testers can now convert video recordings into detailed defect reports. This groundbreaking functionality accelerates project timelines with AI-powered speed and accuracy. Not only does this technology provide the holy trinity of speed, quality and cost savings, but it also solves a huge—often unspoken—issue on many projects: the breakdown of dev/test relations at the worst possible time.

Video to Software Tests

A Testing Revolution? How to Turn Videos into Manual and Automated Test Cases

Imagine being able to record a user story and instantly turn it into manual and automated tests—how much time and effort would you save? Whether you’re preparing for SIT, UAT or streamlining regression testing, you can now generate manual and codeless automated test cases directly from video recordings, leveraging cutting-edge AI technology to streamline your testing processes.

Test Automation what's new

What’s New: Exciting Test Automation Tool Updates

As great as OpenText is at software development, it’s not always the best at keeping people informed about changes. So, today, I’m sharing a few recent updates to the OpenText automation tools. These are just a tiny sample of recently implemented changes. They focus on cloud capabilities, AI-powered object detection, codeless testing, and streamlined workflows that make test automation more accessible and efficient than ever.
